About me

Hello, thank you for taking the time to visit my website.

I'm Laura, a Speech and Language Therapist specialising in aphasia. I work with adults who have aphasia after stroke or brain injury, as well as the family members and friends who support them.

Aphasia can affect conversations, relationships, confidence, identity and independence, but it does not change who someone is.

I created Aphasia Space to provide practical, personalised support for people living with aphasia and the people around them. Therapy may involve working on speaking, understanding, reading and writing, as well as identifying and building on each person's communication strengths.

I use supported conversation principles to help people with aphasia communicate more effectively and to help family members and friends develop strategies that make conversations easier and more meaningful.

Alongside my clinical work, I am interested in visual communication and simple ways of making information easier to understand. This interest shapes many of the resources and approaches I develop through Aphasia Space.

If you'd like to find out whether I might be the right fit for you or your family, I'd be delighted to hear from you.
